How to add an Office 365 shared mailbox in iOS mail
Purpose
Once you’ve setup a shared mailbox in Office 365 to make use of this common email addresses, you will want to configure your iPhone or iPad access it.
Prerequisites
- A shared mailbox previously setup in Office 365
- An iOS device like an iPhone or iPad running the latest version of iOS
Solution
- Get to your home screen and open the Settings app
- Scroll to Mail and select it
- Select Accounts
- Select Add Account
- Select Other
- Select Add Mail Account
- In the New Account screen enter the following information:
- Name: shared mailbox name (i.e. info)
- Email: shared mailbox email address (i.e. info@mydomain.com)
- Password: your normal email account password
- Description: preferred display name for this account
- At the top right-hand side of the screen select Next
- With the IMAP tab selected, under Incoming Mail Server enter the following information:
- Host Name: outlook.office365.com
- User Name: your email address/shared mailbox email address (i.e. myemail@mydomain.com/info@mydomain.com)
- Under Outgoing Mail Server enter the following information:
- Host Name: smtp.office365.com
- At the top right-hand corner of the screen select Next
- Once the settings are verified, at the top right-hand corner of the screen select Save
- At the top left-hand corner of the screen select Mail
- At the top left-hand corner of the screen select Settings
- Press the Home button to exit the Settings app
